mofakult
Its own online shop for moped spare parts and a community platform for the scene. Mobile first, for 13 countries, connected to the ERP instead of Magento.

Spare parts with cult status.
mofakult from Frauenfeld, Switzerland, sells spare parts for rare mopeds from the 60s, 70s and 80s, many of them faithful reproductions under its own brand. The community matters as much as the shop. The tone: bare bums, smoking exhausts and loads of moped love.
My role: UX design of the shop and the community platform, from navigation and the categorisation of products to the product pages. In an international team.
Out of the standard shop.
The data from the old Magento shop was clear: people buy on their phones. At the same time, the shop was meant to kick off all of Europe, with its own country domains, prices and tax rates, and two customer groups: private customers and dealers.
On top came concepts for shopper types, price perception, product cards and returns. And one question that carries the whole shop: how do you categorise thousands of spare parts so people find them even without a part number?
Love for detail in the shopping experience.
A small cart animation, custom images for every product category, matching cross-selling products on the »New« and »Sale« pages. The shop should feel like mofakult, not like a template.

One CMS, 13 countries.
Alongside the shop came a community platform: scene events with a map and filters by place, date and topic, plus updates you can follow. In the magazine, workshop stories and how-tos tell what moves the scene.
All content for 13 countries and four languages is managed in one interface, and every content block can be shown or hidden per country. Product pages come in three variants, from simple parts to freely configurable sets.
Behind the scenes, the ERP integration prints twelve orders onto one picking list. The warehouse picks for all of them at once.

House brands like swiing® Ingenious Parts get their own brand pages: with origin, attitude, the key products and the way to the other mofakult brands.
Faster, more mobile, more customers.
Load time dropped from 3 seconds to under 100 milliseconds. Revenue rose by 10 % right after launch, and in the first twelve months there were 83 % more new customers than the year before.
The concept keeps going: there are now spin-offs built on the same principle, vespakult and bullykult.
