Overview

Mozart, not kangaroos.

flowcv is an indie product from Austria. The mission: empower people in their job search with a tool that's truly free and feels easy. 1.4 million people have built their resume with it.

My role: UX/UI and product. flowcv was my move into the SaaS world, and I learned a lot here: short paths, a small team, decisions you see in the numbers the next day.

Product

More than a resume.

An application is more than a PDF. That's why flowcv grew: from the resume to the whole application process.

  • Application processTrack applications, notes on interviews, the right version of the resume for each job.
  • Mini websiteA personal page from the same data, online in a few minutes.
  • Email signatureThe same look down to the last email.
  • For recruitersCustom business solutions for teams that present candidates.

AI

AI where it takes work off your hands.

During my time at flowcv, the first AI features came into the product. Not as a magic button that writes the whole resume, but at the points where people get stuck: Which skills fit my role? How does this point sound better? What does the job ad expect?

The videos only load from YouTube when you click. Videos: FlowCV

Algorithm

The machine reads first.

Applying has changed. Many companies run resumes through an applicant tracking system first. It breaks the document into fields, matches terms against the job ad and pre-sorts. Recruiters also actively search for profiles, websites and portfolios with AI tools. And on the other side, applicants write with AI, so more applications arrive that sound alike.

For the product that means: a resume needs two readers. The machine needs real text instead of images, clear headings and the terms from the job ad. The human needs a design you grasp in seconds, and a reason to remember.

  • Readable for systemsClean structure, a real text layer in the PDF, no nested layouts.
  • Matched to the jobTailor skills and wording to the ad, one version per application.
  • FindableYour own website that people and search engines find, AI assistants too.

I ask myself exactly the same question about every website today: who reads first, the human or the agent? More in the Archivist case.
